New Paints...a substitute for the beach

I was talked out of buying the Winsor Newton half pan set by the guy in the shop. Instead I bought these M. Graham & Co. ones to try out. They are great so far and I am so excited to get painting again. I decided on watercolour paints, and have them in a portable kit, so I can paint in the car at red lights, and while at the playground...the things you have to do...I'll update you on the paints I bought and the set up I have, this is just a teaser...

So, I have something to share with you all. We have been intending on going to NZ in December. We have been planning this trip for like...oh...years. We were going to be there for eight months for my husband to complete his work term for school. Turns out that they no longer require the work term and to go would mean that his school would be pushed back another semester. So, we are not going. ACH!

So, that means another Calgary winter. I know that I may be offending many of you Calgary lovers out there, but to be honest I just have a hard time loving the months of January, February, March and April here. SO. I am going to make huge efforts to love this winter, to enjoy every minute and day as it comes and do what we can to make life in Rundle as great a substitute for the Beach at Cheltenham as possible. Its a challenge, I know.

Bummer! I know you guys were really looking forward to going there. What is your husband studying, by the way?

And I love your watercolors that you're doing! I switched over to watercolors last year too, exactly for the same reason - fast, portable and finish a painting quickly. I still don't really know what I'm doing with them, but it's a lot of fun!
