village

Thanks for the painting love! This one is called "village". I am sure there are many of you out there who could write essays on the problems with the scale of our communities and how, the same amount of people living in villages is far more sustainable. A little group of houses, farms and workshops, all connected through the internets...and each with its own culture, art, vibe. Simple, clean, ummm, utopian... should be easy enough to create? (yeah, right...)

The smaller paintings are in this format, with a white border and the butcher tape around the edges. I like them like that and am trying to think of a way to frame them that preserves the quality of the rough edges and paint texture...any ideas would help.

Snow is coming down sideways today. Maybe its that sort of time. sideways. Time to look at things from another perspective.

Education is important. Mothers are the first educators of new babes. We have to train children in sciences and arts, and their characters to be strong, beautiful and virtuous. Its easy for this task to get lost when dinner, housecleaning, grocery shopping and laundry seem so much more pressing. So we made a "virtue sun" a big paper sun where we record every time Marcel practices a virtue. Then at the end of the day I dont have to feel that Ive been missing those "learning opportunities".
